Kyle Bartley helped Leeds rise to fourth in the Championship table after a crucial win over play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Garry Monk's side took the lead through Chris Wood before Rob Green saved Jordan Rhodes' penalty as Leeds cut the gap on second-placed Newcastle United to nine points.
Bartley played the full 90 minutes with the 25-year-old having featured in all of Leeds' 34 league games this term, which have included 12 clean sheets.
Marvin Emnes featured for just over an hour as Blackburn Rovers picked up a point in their game at Burton.
The Dutchman made his first start since rejoining Rovers on loan, with the 1-1 draw moving them to within two points of fourth-bottom Bristol City.

In League Two, Liam Shephard saluted a clean sheet as Yeovil held Notts County 0-0 in a low-key affair.
It was the 22-year-old's 33rd appearance for Darren Way's side, who are ten points above the relegation zone after going winless in their last five matches.
Alex Samuel made his third start for Newport while Josh Sheehan came off the bench in their 2-1 defeat at promotion-chasing Mansfield Town.
Samuel played the full game for the Exiles, who had taken a 1-0 lead.
But the division's bottom club, who reduced to ten men after 67 minutes, were sent home point-less after a penalty in the 75th minute settled this encounter.
Newport sit six points from third-bottom Hartlepool United with 13 games to go.
Meanwhile, Bafe Gomis (Marseille), Franck Tabanou (Granada), Modou Barrow, Matt Grimes (both Leeds), Alex Bray (Rotherham), Josh Vickers (Barnet), Owain Jones (Yeovil Town) and Tom Holland (Fylde) didn't feature for their loan clubs.
