Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng targets dream start at Chelsea

4th August

Midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng is hoping for another opening-day flyer on Saturday as the Swans kick off the new Barclays Premier League campaign at defending champions Chelsea (5.30pm).
The South Korean scored the opening goal at Old Trafford on the first day of last season before a Gylfi Sigurdsson strike earned the Swans a memorable 2-1 victory over Manchester United.
It set the Swans up for a run of three consecutive wins as maximum points against Burnley and West Brom built the foundation for what turned out to be the club's best season since joining the Premier League.
"We had the perfect start last year which set us up for the rest of the campaign,'' explained Ki. "It's going to be tough, but hopefully we can do the same again.
"Our preparation has been good over the last six weeks. We've trained very hard and everyone is ready to go.''

Ki was quick to point out, however, that they couldn't have wished for a harder start than a visit to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.
"They are the defending champions - and worthy champions at that,'' he added. "They were such a good, strong team last season with quality throughout the squad.
"I'm sure the fact that it's their first game at home will give them extra desire to win, especially having lost to Arsenal on Sunday.
"It's going to be a challenge, but one we are all looking forward to. We know we will have to be at our very best to come away with a positive result, but we have shown in the past what we can do on our day.''
Ki will also head to Stamford Bridge with his own London-based fan club excited about giving him and the Swans additional support.
His country's captain, Ki always attracts a large South Korean following to all the Swans' London-based fixtures.
"There are a lot of South Koreans based in the capital,'' added Ki. "It's always nice to see so many of them at our London games and I'm sure they'll be back at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. I'm honoured.''
