Swansea City Under-18s Aston Villa

15th October

Three second half goals from Aston Villa condemned Swansea City Under-18s to their first home defeat of the season in Premier League South at Landore on Saturday.
Swansea attacked from the kick-off as full-back Mael Davies' through ball put Liam Cullen through on goal only for Villa keeper Viktor Johansson to pounce on the chance.
Villa battled to make an impact in the final third but could not find a way through the Swans defence to take a decent chance at goal.
Swansea meanwhile continued to push down the flanks as a well worked move broke the Villa defence to play Cullen into the area only for the strikers' chance to be denied again by Johansson.
Minutes later Keiran Evans ball found winger Mason Jones-Thomas in space on the wing but the youngster could only fire wide of goal.
The young Swans continued to press Villa's back line and broke the deadlock minutes before the break when a ball from Causso Darame on the right flank found Cullen, the striker sliced his way past two players into the box before slotting past Johansson.
Villa looked to get back on level terms and almost equalised minutes into the restart as Kelsey Mooney played in substitute Josh Williams for a charge into the box before Ross Treacy saved the midfielder's effort. Darame raced into the box just after the hour mark but could only fire his effort into the side netting.
Villa were back on level terms on 65 minutes as Jordan Cox's cross found Mooney in the area to tap in from close range.
Swans keeper Ross Treacy denied the Villa striker a second goal moments later before defender Dan Jefferies and substitute Jack Fox made crucial blocks to deny the visitors a second goal.
But Villa did take the lead in the 76th minute as Mooney headed home his second goal from a corner at the far post.
And the Swans unbeaten home run was ended minutes later when a ball found Jordan Cox in space to fire home for Aston Villa's third of the afternoon with the score 3-1 at the final whistle.
