Two goals in the second half ended Swansea City Under-18s' unbeaten league and cup run on Saturday morning.
The young Swans started well in the rain soaked conditions at Landore training ground and could have taken the lead through Liam Cullen after 20 minutes.
Good defended from Aston Villa kept the scores level at half-time before the visitors broke the deadlock ten minutes into the restart before doubling their lead on 75 minutes.
Swansea had chances in the second period to get back into the game only for attackers Liam Edwards and Jack Watts to see their shots saved by Villa's keeper.
Despite the result, U18s coach Eric Ramsay believes the team have made good progress in 2015.
"It was a disappointing defeat but we can't be too disheartened," he said.
"The progress we have made in category one football over the last few weeks and months has delivered some fantastic results.
"Myself and Chris (Llewellyn) are really proud to see how far the players have come so far this season.
"The conditions played a big part today, the game at one point could have gone either way.
"Both sides have had good chances but Aston Villa have been more clinical and taken theirs.
"Despite the result we go into the Christmas break feeling positive about the year, we will look to refocus now before heading into some tough fixtures in the New Year.
