Swansea City under-23s Chelsea International Cup

22nd December

Swansea City Under-23s travel to Aldershot today to face Chelsea in their final Group D game in the Premier League International Cup (7.05pm).
The young Swans are currently unbeaten in the competition with a 2-0 victory over Feyenoord in October and a 0-0 draw against Dinamo Zagreb a month later leaving the side second in the table.
The competitions format sees only two from six runner-up teams progress to the quarter finals meaning the development squad must win to have any chance to advance.
"It will be a tough challenge but one we are looking forward to," Under-23s coach Cameron Toshack said.
"We can go into the game with confidence and in a positive mind-set to get the result we need to progress.

"We have performed very well in this competition so far and we do not want that to end. Playing against international opposition is a different challenge for our young men.
"Chelsea are one of the best teams we will face this campaign, they have a world class academy and will give us a good test.
"Our first two games in this group have not been easy. Feyenoord came with an experienced group of players and it was a good performance against Dinamo Zagreb that ensured we kept a clean sheet.
"If we want to progress and test ourselves against more international teams in this competition we need to get a result. It is important we stay focused and deliver a good level of performance."
