Taylor: Performance deserved the points
19th January
Neil Taylor believes the Swans got the result their performance deserved following a 1-0 win over Watford at the Liberty on Monday night.
Ashley Williams' 28th-minute header - his first goal since March 2014 - was enough to lift the Swans out of the relegation zone during a game which new Head Coach Francesco Guidolin watched on from the stands.
And Taylor was delighted with the victory, insisting the Swans were worthy winners.
"We are just happy we have finally got the result to match the performance," he said. "Hopefully this is a big step towards getting some big results.
"We know it is a big win and we are happy with the performance. We could have made it more comfortable but in the end we were happy with the three points.
"We played some good football, especially in the first half on a difficult pitch due to the amount of rugby they have had on it.
"We had good pressure and control of the game, and we nearly got the second when Bafe (Gomis) hit the post late on.
"I don't think you can look too much on what other teams are doing because if you do that it will be a nervous weekend. You have to worry and focus on yourself and what you are doing, and that's what we have done."
Next up for the Swans is a trip to Goodison Park to face Roberto Martinez's Everton on Sunday.
And Taylor will be looking for a repeat performance on Merseyside.
"We have to build on this and put in another big performance against Everton to back it up," said the Wales left-back.
"If we can put a string of wins together it makes a massive difference in this league and that is what all the teams will be looking to do."
