2nd April

Carlisle 1 Swansea City 2
Football League Trophy final - Sunday, April 2, 2006
The Swans lit up the Millennium Stadium as they lifted the Football League Trophy thanks to Bayo Akinfenwa's late strike.
Lee Trundle had given the Swans the lead as early as the third minute, with Magic Daps showing his true quality after chesting down a cross before volleying into the corner of the net.
Carlisle did level before the break however, with Adam Murray beating Swans keeper Willy Gueret.
But it was the Swans who would have the final say as Akinfenwa fired home from close range to send the Jack Army wild.
Later on that season the Swans would return to the Millennium Stadium, only to be cruelly beaten on penalties by Barnsley in the League One Play-Off final.
