27th August

Walsall 2-5 Swansea
League One - Saturday, 27 August 2005
The Swans ended Walsall's unbeaten league start to the season thanks to three goals in eight second-half minutes.
Roberto Martinez gave the visitors the lead with a spectacular 25-yard opener, but Matt Fryatt scored from the penalty spot before half-time as both teams went into the break on level terms.
Bayo Akinfenwa quickly restored the Swans' lead only for a dubious leveller when goalkeeper Willy Gueret was bundled over the line with the ball.
But Owain Tudur-Jones put the visitors ahead again before Kevin McLeod and Paul Connor made the game safe.
"The first half was fantastic and a great advert for League One," said Swans boss Kenny Jackett.
"As a manager I'm looking for results, but some of our football going forward was terrific. It was crisp, incisive and finished off with terrific goals.
"I was very pleased with some very good individual performances. It was good to bounce back after two league defeats."
