28th August

August 28, 2004
Cambridge United 0 Swansea City 1
An early Izzy Iriekpen goal kept Swansea on the fringes of the Division Three play-off places.
The defender, on loan at Cambridge the previous season, profited from a sixth-minute Roberto Martinez corner.
Stuart Jones hit the ball into the danger area and Iriekpen deflected it past goalkeeper Shaun Marshall.
The Swans rode their luck for the rest of the game against a Cambridge side who hit the post and bar, and had a goal-bound shot cleared off the line.
Iriekpen was the hero throughout, blocking Alex Revell's strike on the line in the 16th minute and making another vital interception when Jermaine Easter looked certain to score in the second half.
In injury time Swansea keeper Brian Murphy, making his first start since August, pulled off a brilliant one-handed save from Luke Guttridge and then dived at the feet of Easter to secure the points for his side.

Swans line-up: Murphy, Roberts, Iriekpen, Tate, Howard, Stuart Jones, Martinez, Britton, Robinson, Coates, Nugent.
