17th December

Newcastle 0-0 Swansea
Barclays Premier League - Saturday, 17 December 2011
The Swans battled hard to earn an impressive point at St James' Park to continue their fine start to life in the Premier League.
After seven clean sheets in their previous 15 games, the visitors chalked up another shut-out largely thanks to a number of fine saves from summer signing Michel Vorm.
The home side dominated the early exchanges as Fabricio Coloccini and Demba Ba both struck the woodwork, while Vorm had to be alert to keep out the striker's effort from close range.
Newcastle continued to press after the interval as Jonas Gutierrez struck a powerful effort inches wide and Ba failed to control a far-post volley soon after.
But the Swans grew into the game as the second half wore on, with Joe Allen failing to get on the end of a Wayne Routledge centre and Scott Sinclair dragging a left-foot shot wide of the far post.
However, Vorm was soon called into action once more as he saved from substitute Shola Ameobi while Be volleyed high and wide late on as Newcastle were left frustrated.

NEWCASTLE: Krul, Coloccini, Santon, Simpson, Perch, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Tiote (Vuckic, 82), Obertan (Ameobi, 82), Ba, Best (Ameobi, 71).

SWANS: Vorm, RIchards, Caulker, Williams, Taylor, Britton, Allen, Gower (Agustien, 45), Routledge, Sinclair (Dyer, 77), Graham.
