The Swans powered on at the top of League One as a starring display from Jason Scotland saw off troubled Northampton.
Persistence from impressive midfielder Leon Britton set the striker up for an early 12-yard, right-footed volley.
Three minutes later Scotland beat the offside trap and picked out Darren Pratley, who side-footed in the second.
Scotland completed the rout after the break with a penalty after Guy Branston fouled Dennis Lawrence, the Cobblers falling to their fifth loss in a row.
