It's been tough enough for Swansea City of late. And yet they seem intent on making life difficult for themselves right now.

It was never going to be an easy start to the season at home for Swansea: champions United, unbeaten Liverpool and then Arsenal - all table-topping teams.

And the challenge of spoiling Arsene Wenger's 17th Arsenal anniversary celebrations were never going to be simple when Aaron Ramsey is fully realising the playmaking potential that prompted the Frenchman's private jet luring of the Caerphilly boy five years ago.

But for all that, it is Swansea themselves who must take the hard look in the mirror and accept it was they who made a tough task an impossible one.

"It was just five minutes of switching off, a lack of concentration," said defender Ben Davies referencing the two Arsenal goals inside four minutes, one created and one scored by Ramsey, that did for Swansea hopes of a result.

"They were two sloppy goals and for them to come so close together was just a massive blow because there's not many teams who have - or can - come back from two goals down against Arsenal.

"It's disappointing to have put ourselves in that position and we need to learn to be a bit more organised when we are under pressure."

Amat: We can beat any team at the Liberty

Jordi Amat insists Swansea City believe they can beat anyone at the Liberty despite an unspectacular return from their opening three Premier League matches in SA1.

Swansea were beaten by visiting Arsenal on Saturday, making it one point collected from nine available on home soil.

Michael Laudrup's side began the campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Manchester United before Liverpool came to South Wales and claimed a 2-2 draw.

Swansea performed well on their own patch in the Europa League, thumping both Malmo and Petrolul Ploiesti and have already beaten West Brom and Crystal Palace on their top-flight travels.

"We are not picking up wins at home but the team have seven points which is good having played some big teams," said Amat.

"And we have to remember we have done well in the Europa League and we have to look towards that.

"We know here we can beat any team and we try not to get too disappointed and make sure we try to do better next time.

"We have played some big sides at home, we need the fans to stay behind us when we play St Gallen.

"Big teams have big quality but we have played well against them despite the defeats.

"At 0-0 against Arsenal we showed we matched them, but for five minutes it was disappointing. It is good that the next game is also at home."

Amat made his first Premier League appearances last Saturday after captain Ashley Williams was ruled out with an ankle injury.

Dwight Tiendalli was another to come into the back four because an ankle problem also sidelined Angel Rangel.

They had to cope with an Arsenal line-up that included in-form Aaron Ramsey and new £42 million signing Mesut Ozil.

"I'm happy to play my first game in the Premier League against such a big team, but it's not a great feeling to have lost," said Amat.

"The team tried our best to score that first goal and the first half was fairly even but then five minutes cost us.

"I don't know if it was lack of concentration, but it was a bit too easy for them. The team tried until the final seconds to get the second goal after Ben scored but we couldn't.

"I played against Ozil in Spain and it was good to play against him.

"Ramsey was good but Arsenal are a big team with many good players, not just one.

"It is difficult to play against Arsenal, Manchester United and these teams but we will try to convince people that we are capable of winning these games."
