Swansea City have made their second signing of the day after midfielder Tom Carroll completed his move from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

Carroll has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Liberty.

The 24-year-old becomes the Swans' third new arrival of the transfer window following the acquisition of PSV Eindhoven winger Luciano Narsingh and left-back Martin Olsson, who joined earlier today from Norwich City.

Carroll spent a successful loan spell at the Liberty during the 2014-15 campaign, where he made 18 appearances in all competitions during the Swans' record-breaking season which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League.

The former England Under-21 international will hope to make his second Swans debut when Paul Clement's side head to Anfield to take on Liverpool this Saturday.

After impressive displays for Tottenham's Academy and signing a pro contract in 2010, Carroll made his first senior appearances while on loan at Leyton Orient, where he made 12 appearances in League One.

His performances at Brisbane Road propelled him into Harry Redknapp's first-team plans at White Hart Lane in 2011-12, with Carroll making seven appearances for Spurs - five of them coming in the Europa League.

That same season he gained further experience during a loan spell at Championship club Derby, where he scored once in 12 appearances.

With Andre Villas-Boas at the helm, Carroll played a more influential role at his parent club during the 2012-13 campaign as he featured 14 times in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

The following year he featured in both legs of Spurs' Europa League victories over Dinamo Tbilisi before joining Queens Park Rangers on loan, making 26 appearances as the London club won the Championship Play-Off final.

Another loan spell followed the following season, with Carroll helping the Swans to their highest finish of eighth in the Premier League.

Back at his parent club for 2015-16, he clocked up 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times, while he has featured three times this season.
