Under-21s beat Liverpool in friendly

30th December

The Under-21s continued their recent run of form with a friendly victory over Liverpool on Monday.
The fixture was arranged due to both clubs having a break in their respective league programmes, while Liverpool played Swansea in the Premier League later in the day.
Having arrived at Liverpool's Kirby training complex in a rich vein of form, the young Swans acquitted themselves very well against one of the top Academy sides in the country.
Goals from Adam King and Giancarlo Gallifuoco sealed the win and extended the Under-21s' run to seven straight wins and 11 matches unbeaten.
Academy Head of Coaching David Adams said: "The most pleasing aspect for us is that we have shown that we are capable of competing with a Category One team.
"As well as this, the inclusion of Joseph Jones and Steven Kingsley, who both returned from injury, was also a positive.
"Both players impressed, and together with the introduction of Under-18 players Kyle Copp and Owain Jones, shows that individual players are progressing through the Academy structure.
"I must stress that the improvement in all players within this group has been reflected in the results we have achieved to date.
"I hope this victory will again give the group confidence and motivation and enable us to keep progressing both individually and collectively in 2015."
