Under-21s begin Dutch tour with victory

21st July

The Under-21s kicked off their pre-season trip to Holland with a 2-1 victory over ADO Den Haag.
The Dutch outfit fielded their Under-19 side for this opening game at Laakkwartier FC as the Swans stepped up their match sharpness.
Following a defeat and draw against Merthyr Town and Wrexham, the squad were keen to get a first victory of pre-season under their belt.
New recruit Oliver McBurnie - who signed a three-year deal from League One side Bradford - led the attack for the development squad, who also fielded two trialists in the starting line-up.
And it was McBurnie who played a key role in the Swans taking an early lead as the frontman charged down the goalkeeper's clearance, with the the ball ricocheting kindly for a trialist who volleyed the chance into an unguarded net.
The Swans should have doubled their lead midway through the first half as Joe Rodon headed wide from a Ryan Hedges cross, but Den Haag drew level before the break as a cross come shot from the right channel somehow found its way past Oliver Davies at his near post.
A number of substitutions followed during the midway point of the game, but the Swans stepped up the tempo in the final period as they searched for a winner.
The Dutch side did strike the post at the other end, however, while Dan James and Alex Samuel both saw chances come and go.
But it was another substitute - Kyle Copp - who grabbed the winner with the final kick of the game as his stunning 25-yard free kick flew into the top corner.

SWANS U21s: Oliver Davies (Gregor Zabret, 45), Connor Roberts, Keston Davies, Joe Rodon (Alex Gogic, 45), Daniel Alfei, Henry Jones, Adnan Maric (Tom Holland, 60), Trialist (Kyle Copp, 45), Ryan Hedges (Stephen Fallon, 81), Trialist (Dan James, 73), Oliver McBurnie (Alex Samuel, 45).

The Under-21s are next in action on Thursday when they face Rijnsburgse Boys before a final game against and FC Laakkwartier (Friday).
