Under-21s held to a draw at Millwall

6th January

The Under-21s were denied a sixth straight league win as they were held to a 3-3 draw against Millwall on Tuesday.
The young Swans were unbeaten in ten heading into the fixture in south London, while they also beat Liverpool in a friendly over the festive period.
With their title rivals dropping points, it represented a great chance for the Under-21s to extend their lead at the top of Development League Two South.
And it took just seven minutes for the visitors to take the lead as Ryan Hedges converted well after a positive opening period.
However, Millwall levelled shortly after and saw a penalty saved by Oliver Davies as the Lions ended the half on top.
After the home side took the lead twice more - either side of Ryan Hedges' second - they looked on course for victory until substitute James Loveridge rescued a point for the Swans with ten minutes to play.
The result means the Swans remain top of the table, and in turn extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches.
"A draw was probably a fair result," said coach Chris Llewellyn. "We started the game well and got the first goal - but we lost our way a little after that.
"They got a foothold and their front three caused us a lot of problems. But we regrouped at half time and still created plenty of chances.
"Even at 3-3 we were pressing for a winner but we'll take a point and it extends our unbeaten run to 12 games.
"The performance was okay, we still have plenty to work on and hopefully we can put that right ahead of our next game against Ipswich."

SWANS U21s: Oliver Davies, Liam Shephard (Connor Roberts, 80), Alex Gogic, Giancarlo Gallifuoco, Stephen Kingsley, Adam King, Josh Sheehan, Henry Jones, Ryan Hedges, Kenji Gorre, Alex Samuel (James Loveridge, 60).

SUBS NOT USED: Gregor Zabret, Raheem Hanley, James Demetriou.

**The Under-21s home fixture against Ipswich, originally scheduled for Monday, January 12 has now been rearranged.
