The 2021-22 season has come to a close as Swansea City finished 15th in a transitional season under new boss Russell Martin.

Here, we take a look back at the notable facts, stats and achievements from the campaign.

3 – Teenagers Cameron Congreve, Lincoln Mcfayden, and Finley Burns made Swans appearances this season, while a total of seven teenagers were included in matchday squads. Current under-18 players Joel Cotterill and Ben Lloyd were both among the substitutes.

9 – Jamie Paterson registered the most assists of any Swansea player this campaign. He also contributed with nine goals.

9 Swans registered their joint-longest unbeaten run of games under one manager since their return to the Championship when they went on a nine-game run without defeat in the latter stages of the campaign.

13 – In total, Swans had 13 goal scorers in all competitions. Joel Piroe, Michael Obafemi, Jamie Paterson, Olivier Ntcham, Cyrus Christie, Morgan Whittaker, Ryan Manning, Hannes Wolf, Jake Bidwell, Ben Cabango, Flynn Downes, Jamal Lowe and Joel Latibeaudiere all found the back of the net.

16 – Swans kept a clean sheet in 35% of their league matches this term. The opposition failed to score on 16 occasions which gave them the joint eighth best defensive record in the league.

17 – April marked Swans’ best month of the season. They picked up 13 points and scored a total of 17 goals.  It’s the highest number of league goals scored in a single month by the Swans since the turn of the millennium.

23 Strike partnership Joel Piroe (12) and Michael Obafemi (11) registered a combined 23 goals in 2022.

24 – Joel Piroe hit 24 goals in all competitions. He is just the seventh Swansea player to score more than 20 in a season since 2005.

31 – A total of 31 players made league appearances in 2021-22. Cameron Congreve was the youngest at 18, the academy product made two starts and three cameos off the bench.

46 – Matt Grimes played all 4,140 minutes in Swans 46 league games this season. It marked the second time in three campaigns that he has played every minute, having done so during the 2019-20 campaign.

50 – Swans’ match against QPR on the final day of the season was Russell Martin’s 50th in charge.

51 – Jamie Paterson made the highest number of key passes of anyone in the Swans squad with just over half a century.

54.29 – Games involving Swansea City saw the ball in play for an average of 54.29 per cent per match. The lowest percentage in the Championship was Birmingham City’s 45.85 per cent.

58 – The Swans hit 58 league goals, two more than last season’s total.

63.9 – Swansea City ended the season with the highest average amount of possession per game in the Championship. Over the campaign Russell Martin’s side had the ball 63.9 per cent of the time.

100 – Ben Cabango brought up a century of appearances for Swans at the age of 21. The centre-back made his league debut in November 2019.

101 – Flynn Downes made more interceptions than anyone else in the Swansea squad with 101.

110 – The wait for a south Wales derby double came to an end after 110 years. Historically, the fixture has been closely contested, but Russell Martin’s Swans turned on the style to register a 3-0 home win and 4-0 away win and seal the first derby double in emphatic style.

200 – Matt Grimes recorded his 200th appearance in a Swans shirt against Barnsley. His next appearance will be his 150th as skipper.

250 – Kyle Naughton surpassed the 250 appearance mark. He now ranks among the top 45 players in the Swans’ 110-year history when it comes to overall outings in the club colours.

4,191 – Matt Grimes made more passes than anyone else in the Championship this season and 866 more than Tim Ream who completed the second highest number of passes. The Swans skipper reached the tally in 4,459 minutes of play (including stoppage), making a pass every 1.06 minutes on average. Kyle Naughton was third on the league list, while Flynn Downes and Ben Cabango also made the top 10.

24,487 – The total number of passes completed by the Swans in the league this season was 24,487. The league average was 15,483. The Swans also had the fewest number of successful passes completed against them.
