Vitor Matos | We take the point with plenty to work on

Head coach Vitor Matos was pleased with the endeavour of his Swansea City side but acknowledged there is plenty to work on after their goalless draw with Sheffield United.

The hosts bossed possession for much of the content and got themselves into a number of promising positions, but were unable to make them count.

Joseph Opoku, Moussa Yeo and Elijah Just were among those to have sights of goal as the Swans had to settle for a point.

The visitors had chances of their own, and went closest of all when Callum O’Hare struck the crossbar in the opening half.

In the end neither side could make the breakthrough as the Swans continued their unbeaten start to the new Championship season.

"There were moments where we had control of the game, and some moments where we were a bit rusty which is part of the stage of the season we are in," said Matos.

"It was a very different challenge from what we faced last week, but we had those moments where we got into good spaces but we did not have them with as much consistency as we wanted.

"But we stayed emotionally stable, we defended well which is something we can take from this game and now we need to move forward and improve.

"When the game becomes more about duels, second balls and becomes more stretched, it is still an area where we are learning and looking to improve in.

"We had one or two chances, it was very even, we know there are a lot of things to improve on but that's what we are here for.

"To get a clean sheet was very important, and to have that mentality of wanting to defend well and attack better.

"It's early in the season and the task is to improve and find solutions to the problems and challenges that we face."

Matos also confirmed that captain Cabango will undergo an assessment on the heel problem that forced him off in the second half.
