Wales rugby legend Shane Williams signs up for SwansAid soccer match

5th March

Wales rugby legend Shane Williams has today confirmed he is the latest name to sign up for May's celebrity soccer match.
He's joined by Soccer AM star Peter "Tubes" Dale who also makes his debut in the game at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, May 31.
Williams, who began playing football for Cwmamman United and Ammanford AFC before switching to rugby where he excelled for Neath, the Ospreys along with Wales and the British Lions, says he can't wait to make his return to Liberty Stadium.

"As soon as I heard about the Celebs soccer match I wanted to get involved," said Williams.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I have always loved football - I grew up watching the Swans - and this is a great event for Swansea to host, which is helping raise thousands of pounds for local charities through SwansAid.
"Twenty years ago, I had the opportunity to play against Swansea City for Ammanford, so the chance to return and play football at the home of the Swans is a dream come true.
"I would love to score a goal at the Liberty Stadium - I have scored a couple of tries there during my day job so to get a goal would make my time there complete.
"There are some great names already signed-up to play and some big people that are yet to be named.
"Hearing that Tubes will also be playing is great news. I'm a big Soccer AM fan, so the chance to play with or against him is going to be great opportunity."

Tubes added: "I'm very excited about playing the game. Hopefully I will be a calming influence on the midfield as usual and pop up with a goal or two.
"Come and get involved and watch what I am sure will be an entertaining game, as we raise money for a fantastic cause."
