Wayne hails five-star performance

22nd August

Wayne Routledge saluted the performance and result the Swans were looking for after beating Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti 5-1 in the Europa League.
Routledge bagged a brace while Michu, Wilfried Bony and substitute Alejandro Pozuelo grabbed the other goals as the Swans built a healthy lead ahead of their Play-Off second leg in Romania next week as they target a place in the Group Stages.
And Routledge was delighted with the way the Swans bounced back from their 4-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

"In many ways it was a nice response to last weekend," he said. "Everyone was disappointed and wanted to get it out of their heads.
"It was nice to win 5-1 - it gives us a great platform out there to hopefully get the second part of the job done."
Routledge opened the scoring after directing Jonjo Shelvey's quickly-taken free-kick after 15 minutes, and then he added a third by heading home Pablo Hernandez's neat cross ten minutes later.
The winger, whose last goal came on New Year's Day, was delighted to be back among the scorers.
"I was happy with my two goals," he said. "The first was about hitting the target - it was a great ball from Jonjo. The second was a great ball from Pablo - he picked me out at the back post."
The Swans now turn their attention to the Barclays Premier League and a trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
And Routledge, who was at Spurs earlier in his career, feels Michael Laudrup's side head there buoyed by their Europa League antics.
"That was a decent performance and we can look forward to Sunday now," he added.
"It's another tough game for us but this result certainly gives us confidence going into that game."
