Angel Rangel says Swansea City are ready to fight for caretaker boss Leon Britton.

Britton was in the dugout for the first time as the Swans claimed a point against Crystal Palace on Saturday despite going a goal down.

And club skipper Rangel has revealed the Swans' players are hungry to produce positive performances for the club legend, who is set to take charge once more at Liverpool tomorrow.

“We all tried to give Leon as much effort as we could against Palace,” he said.

“It is the least you can give to a man who has given everything to this football club. I think we’re going to fight for him.

“A bit more creativity up front could’ve won us the game against Palace but overall, I think we’ll take a point. Now we move on to Liverpool and we will try to get another positive result.”

Rangel reckons the Swans can take many positives from the Palace performance as they go through the busy festive period.

“We could have beaten Palace,” he added.

“We showed a lot more character and you could see the desire from the players. They all wanted to win and the atmosphere was a lot more positive.

“When you are 1-0 down at home, you need to show character and we did.

“We could have won at the end, but we will go into the next few games with a lot more confidence.”
