Yan Dhanda is confident head coach Steve Cooper’s proven expertise in coaching younger players will help bring the best out of him and his Swansea City team-mates during the 2019-20 season.

Cooper arrived in SA1 last month with a glowing reputation for his ability to nurture burgeoning talent from his time with Wrexham, Liverpool and the Football Association.

He gained particular praise for his work with the Reds' academy and England’s under-17 side, where he worked with and developed the likes of Raheem Sterling, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jadon Sancho.

As a result Dhanda, 20, believes his arrival provided a huge boost for Swansea’s youthful squad, who saw more game time for players under the age of 23 than any other team in the Championship last season.

The attacking midfielder, who has made four senior appearances during the Swans’ pre-season preparations, is confident that Cooper’s influence will only be of added benefit to him and his team-mates.

“I’m really excited that the new gaffer is here,” he said.

“He has done so well with the England Under-17s through his work with young players.

“He knows how to develop them into future superstars so to be working with him as a young squad is really positive.

“Because our squad is so young, appointing him makes perfect sense and, hopefully, he’s going to enjoy working with me and the other youngsters here.

"His track record shows he can help bring the best out of us and I think it's been a positive start."
