Young Swans feature in Wales draw

7th June

Five Swansea City youngsters featured as Wales Under-21s were held to a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Georgia.

Skipper Joe Rodon started for Rob Page’s side alongside fellow Swans Aaron Lewis, Jack Evans and Daniel James.

Liam Cullen came on as a substitute for James in the second half.

Wales created chances with Lewis and James providing for Manchester City forward Rabbi Matondo, but the game was goalless at half-time.

The young Dragons took the lead late in the second half after Joe Morrell was fouled in the box and the Bristol City midfielder converted from the spot.

But Wales’ lead did not last long as Giorgi Kokhreidze tapped home from close range.

The result is the second draw in four days against the Georgians, following Sunday’s 2-2 stalemate in Tbilisi.
