Young Swans prepare for International Cup debut

10th October

Swansea City Under-23s kick off their debut season in the Premier League International Cup against Feyenoord at Landore Training Ground on Tuesday (7pm).
The competition pits 12 UK-based Category One academy sides against 12 of the best development squads from across Europe.
Swansea have been drawn in Group D against Holland's Feyenoord before games against Chelsea and Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
Under-23s coach Gary Richards is excited to seeing the young Swans playing against some of Europe's top talents.
"We are very excited to be playing in this competition this season," he said. "Playing against European academy teams will only help develop our young players against some of the best young players in Europe.
"We have been drawn in a strong group and it will give our players a chance to adapt to the demands and different styles that European and domestic football offers."
Teams competing in the PL International Cup will be made up of Under-23 players, aside from a maximum of three outfield players and the goalkeeper, who can be born before January 1, 1993. All matches in the competition are played in England/Wales.
