Swansea City Women’s head coach Yzzy Taylor was pleased with the distribution of goals across the squad following a 10-0 Welsh Cup win over CPDM Llanstumdwy, while also praising the club’s young players for taking their opportunities when called upon this season.

The Swans went into the break two goals ahead, with Sammy Wynne and Emily Richards finding the net in a first half that also saw a resilient defensive display from the visitors, who worked hard to frustrate the home side.

However, Taylor’s side produced a second-half performance that was a joy to behold, showcasing their attacking quality as Richards added her second of the afternoon, Stacey John struck twice off the bench, and further goals came from Taite Trivett, Maisie Miller, Ellie Lake, Chloe Chivers, and Caitlin Williams.

It was the second time this season the Swans have reached double figures, following their 10-1 league victory over Pontypridd United back in October.

Head coach Taylor was delighted with the response from her side following last week’s defeat to Cardiff and believes the team could not have finished 2025 any stronger, rounding off a memorable year in which she took on the role of head coach - something she is immensely proud of.

"The performance was great,” she said.

"We didn't know much about the opposition but we knew we would be able to control ourselves and I think as a group we respected the opposition when we needed to, but we were also clinical when we were expected to be.

"We went into half-time a little bit frustrated, we spoke about what we need to rectify and how we can show our quality and to become more effective in the final third, which the girls took on board.

"Credit to the opposition, they were really resilient in what they did and I think their goalkeeper made some superb saves throughout and we hit the woodwork several times, but the result was deserved and I am really proud that we can move into the next round.

"Everyone played their part, I was really pleased for Caitlin Williams to get a goal and Ellie Lake who I thought was superb, but I am so pleased that we are able to distribute those goals across the team. It shows we aren't reliant on one or two people to get those goals for us.

"It has been a really good year. Taking over in July was a proud moment for myself and my family. I still feel immensely privileged to be the head coach of this football club. Not only do I get to be back on the sidelines and coaching within this league in Wales - but I get to work with a great group of players and staff. We will continue to drive our standards over the next few months and aim to achieve the goals that we set at the start of the season."

It was also a special moment for 17-year-old Susanna Cunningham, who made her senior debut for the Swans. Taylor believes it is vital to give young players opportunities, as it demonstrates a clear pathway for the younger age groups to aspire to.

"It was a really great moment for Susanna. I have known her for a long time and worked with her in the FAW academy. She has been knocking on the door recently and asking questions on how she can be involved in the first team, and for me personally player development is massive,” added Taylor.

“We want to give these opportunities to younger players, and she came on and never looked out of place. Again, Lowri [Jones] came on and did exactly what she needed to do — a player we highly regard. We have a lot of young players in and around the squad, as well as first-team players who are only 18 or 19-years-old, which I think is a credit to them, but also to how we look after our younger players.”
