The Swans surpassed their record Premier League points total after coming from behind to beat Newcastle United 3-2 at St. James' Park.

Nelson Oliveira, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jack Cork overturned a one-goal deficit after Ayoze Perez opened the scoring for the Magpies, while Siem de Jong clawed one back for the hosts late on.

After a slow start to proceedings, Perez tapped home from close range on 13 minutes before Oliveira opened his Swansea account when he headed in the equaliser on the brink of half-time.

Sigurdsson then put the Swans in front shortly after the interval, slotting past Tim Krul following good work from Jefferson Montero, before Cork capped off a fine counter-attack by the Swans when he scored Garry Monk's side's third.

With five minutes left on the clock, second-half substitute de Jong volleyed a late consolation goal for Newcastle.

This victory moved the Swans on to 50 points for the season with four games remaining.

Perez headed wide of goal early on, then Swans skipper Ashley Williams was unable to get a header of his own on target following an inviting corner from Sigurdsson.

The hosts took the lead when Emanuel Riviere's low cross was diverted by Jordi Amat into the path of Perez, who tapped home from close range with Lukasz Fabianski beaten.

But the Swans looked to react almost immediately, when Federico Fernadez made good connection with another Sigurdsson corner, only to see his header fly straight into the arms of Newcastle stopper Krul.

On the half-hour mark, Angel Rangel saw a fiercely struck half-volley saved by Krul, while Montero came close to levelling with a powerfully hit strike from range that whistled just wide of the post.

On the cusp of half-time Perez went close to doubling his and the Magpies' advantage when Fabianski tipped the Spaniard's low header around the post, just moments prior to Oliveira nodding home Swansea's equaliser.

Oliveira was on hand to connect with another inviting Sigurdsson corner, heading the ball into the ground and into the net to level the scores in added time.

The late first-half equaliser seemed to give the Swans a boost heading into the second period. After a bright restart, the Swans took the lead as the lively Montero put the ball on a plate for Sigurdsson to slot into the back of the net past Krul.

The Ecuadorian winger skipped past Ryan Taylor before squaring across the box for Sigurdsson to score his eighth goal of the season.

And with just under 20 minutes to play, the Swans made it three when Cork finished off a superb move after playing through Oliveira, who returned the favour for Cork to tap home.

Newcastle had an opportunity to hit back almost immediately when Perez found space in the box, but his toe-poked effort was comfortably saved by Fabianski.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Shelvey nearly added to the visitors' lead on 80 minutes when he struck a fizzing effort from distance, which Krul just about got a hand to.

With five minutes remaining, substitute de Jong pulled one back for the hosts guiding the ball past Fabianski on the volley from Jack Colback's pinpoint cross.

Despite late pressure from Newcastle, the Swans were able to hold out for all three points.
