Swansea City's academy recently hosted Talent ID sessions where members of the African Community Centre Wales were invited to take part and experience the facilities at their Landore training base.

The African Community Centre Wales provides services not only African and African Caribbean people can utilise, and provides a place where people from all diverse cultures can find a welcome and a listening ear.

The charitable organisation helps support refugees, asylum seekers and people from all walks of life around Swansea by providing mental health, educational, financial and social support.

They also offer initiatives to for children and families, whether it be fun days out, English lessons or life skills sessions such as first aid.

The sessions, held at the Barn at the academy's Landore site, aimed to provide a fun footballing experience for children who have not played football, or are not familiar with the sport.

Academy scouts and coaches led the sessions, which included football drills, mini games and five-a-side tournaments.

The academy also donated last season's kit and training wear to the young participants, with the leftover kit being handed to the Swansea City AFC Foundation to be delivered on their projects and initiatives.

"I reached out to the African Community Centre Wales to see if we as an academy could initiate a few sessions for children from different backgrounds and communities within the Swansea area," said academy scout Paul Robinson.

"It's for children who wouldn’t have had the opportunity of experiencing the use of our facilities and what we provide as an academy."

Chizobam Ekenna, a member of the African Community Centre Wales, said: "A lot of children and families from the African Community Centre and different ethnic backgrounds have come together for football and to develop their talent.

"At the centre, we don't just support Africans, but we support people from all nationalities.

"The past three weeks have been so much fun. The kids have loved it, it's been absolutely amazing to put this together.

"We cannot thank Swansea City Academy enough for bringing this into our community."
