Academy Loan Watch | Season so Far
With more than 10 academy youngsters out on loan across the Scottish, Welsh and English leagues, we take a look at how they are getting on for their respective clubs as the season nears its conclusion.
Kyrell Wilson and Filip Lissah
The Swans duo have enjoyed fine campaigns at Scottish Premiership outfit Falkirk.
Wilson joined the Bairns during the August transfer window on a season long loan, and got off to the dream start scoring on his debut against Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium.
The 21-year-old has since made 24 appearances for Falkirk, scoring twice with one assist.
Lissah, meanwhile, linked up with Wilson a few days later in the window and has become a mainstay in John McGlynn's side.
The right-back has made the SPFL's Team of the Week twice in 2026, and joined Wilson in scoring his debut goal and the winner against Aberdeen in January. He was also voted Fans' Player of the Month for November.
He has since made 25 appearances for Falkirk with two goals to his name, winning glowing reviews for his consistent performances.
Cameron Congreve and Joel Cotterill
The same can be said for Cameron Congreve and Joel Cotterill during ther time with Dundee.
Cameron Congreve joined The Dark Blues in the August transfer window, and has made a considerable impact for Steven Pressley's side. In 30 appearances for Dundee, he's scored twice and assisted six times.
Most recently, he netted a dramatic 95-minute equaliser from distance to earn a 3-3 draw agains Hibernian in March, a strike that was named Goal of the Week in the Scottish top-flight.
Cotterill joined in the January transfer window after spending the first half of the campaign on loan at Bristol Rovers.
The 21-year-old has made 10 appearances in all competitions, scoring his first goal in Navy Blue in Dundee's 3-2 win over Aberdeen in February.
Ben Lloyd
Academy graduate Ben Lloyd joined the Exiles in July 2025 whilst also extending his Swansea City contract through until June 2027.
Since his arrival in Newport, the 21-year-old has made 35 appearances in all competitions netting two goals and getting two assists.
He scored his first goal in black and amber in November 2025, against Arsenal Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy. Lloyd has also been rewarded the Exiles' Player of the Match' award on four different occasions.
He has been in strong form under Christian Fuchs, with the Exiles giving themselves a chance to avoid the drop.
Arthur Parker and Evan Watts
Goalkeeper Evan Watts re-joined Galway United in January, having spent the previous year on loan at the League of Ireland outfit.
Watts' loan spell was cut short with three games remaining last term due to a wrist injury. He finished his campaign with five clean sheets in 18 games, and with two assists to his name. Since re-joining, the Welsh youth international has made seven appearances for United.
Defender Arthur Parker also made the switch to the Irish club in the January window on a season-long loan, and has made a big impact within the Tribesmen's defensive unit.
In seven league appearances, Parker has made the League of Ireland's Team of the Week twice (once alongside Watts), and has recently been named Fans' Player of the Month for February.
Kit Margetson and Jacob Cook
Kit Margetson and Jacob Cook both joined JD Cymru Premier side Connah's Quay Nomads on loan during the summer transfer window.
The shot stopper has played in every single Cymru Premier fixture this season, except for their recent fixture against Bala Town due to international duty.
He's been between the sticks for 32 games in all competitions this season, keeping 10 clean sheets.
Cook has garnered much praise for his presence in midfield, and has earned himself 'Player of the Match' on multiple occasion, including being named 'Nomad of the Month' in February.
The 19-year-old has scored three goals in 31 appearances for Connah's Quay, his first coming against Llanelli in October 2025.
The duo recently helped The Nomads secure qualification for Europe following their 4-2 victory over Caernarfon Town in early March.
And Margetson was recently rewarded with his Wales Under-21s' debut in their Euro 2027 qualifier against Belarus on Friday, March 27 keeping a clean sheet for Matty Jones' side as they ran out 2-0 winners.
Mitchell Bates and Jack Fanning
Centre-back Jack Fanning joined Briton Ferry Llansawel in July, he made his debut in the opening game of the campaign; a 3-0 win over Cymru Premier championsThe New Saints.
Fanning missed a period through injury before returning to the pitch in October where the 19-year-old has started 16 games in a row.
In total, he's racked up 23 appearances in all competitions for the Reds scoring one goal, which came in their 2-2 draw against Cardiff Met in December.
Mitchell Bates returned to his former club not long after, linking up with Fanning in September 2025. Bates joined the Swans in January 2023 having come through the ranks with the Welsh League side.
Bates now also plays alongside his older brother, Luis Bates. So far this campaign, he has made 23 appearances in all competitions.
Sebastian Dabrowski
Sebastian Dabrowski made the switch to National League South side Chippenham Town in the January transfer window.
The left back started and played out 90 minutes on his debut against Slough in January. He started the following game against Ebbsfleet but has since returned to south Wales after sustaining a hip injury.
Josh Thomas
Striker Josh Thomas joined Derry City in January.
The 23-year-old is no stranger to the Irish leagues having spent the last campaign on loan at Drogheda United. Thomas got off to a dream start at Derry, scoring a stoppage-time winner on his debut against Sligo Rovers in front of a home crowd.
So far this season, he has made nine appearances in all competitions.
