Alan Sheehan | We are all frustrated, we were below par

Head coach Alan Sheehan admitted his Swansea City side were below par for much of their 4-1 defeat to Ipswich Town, and says he shares frustrations about the recent run of results.

The Swans had trailed at the interval to a Jack Clarke strike, but levelled when Goncalo Franco calmly steered in his third goal of the season from a Josh Tymon pull-back.

A deflected Leif Davis strike put the visitors back in front before Swansea were denied a second equaliser when Christian Walton brilliantly palmed a Ben Cabango header onto the post.

Ipswich went on to extend their lead with Ivan Azon nodding in a rebound from close-range, before Cameron Burgess put through his own net.

“The first half was incredibly disappointing, we were far below par,” he said.

“We turned the ball over way too much and you cannot do that against a team like this.

“We made a couple of changes at half-time, and tried to be more aggressive in the right areas and we got a really well-worked goal.

“But then we turned the ball over again, we hit the post, but you cannot play like we did – especially in the first half today – and expect to get anything out of it.

“I understand the frustration everyone including the fans is feeling, we all watch the same game so I do understand it. We feel the same.

“I have had tough times in my career, I have been in the game a long time and I understand what we are trying to build but we also know the results are not what we want.”
