Alan Sheehan | We are pleased with the make-up of the squad, now we have to gel everything together
Head coach Alan Sheehan insists Swansea City want to keep improving and evolving as he gets down to work with his full squad following the closure of the summer transfer window.
The Swans brought in 13 players – including Melker Widell, who linked up with the squad this summer having been on loan with Aalborg following his January signing – as the senior squad underwent an overhaul.
Adam Idah, Manuel Benson and Ishe Samuels-Smith completed the additions at the end of the window, and Sheehan now has full focus on gelling the group together following an encouraging start to the season that has seen Swansea lose just one of six games in all competitions and lie seventh in the early Championship table.
“We want to keep evolving, we want to keep getting better,” he said.
“I know people want to ask questions about where you want to finish, or where you think you will finish, but I don’t think you can put an exact point on that, it’s just about getting better.
“I've said consistently you have to get decisions right over a number of windows and keep building the squad to get to where you want to get to, so there's no timescale on that.
“But in terms of the squad we have, we are very pleased. We have competition for places, we've got a culture that I'm getting very proud of to in seeing how the group work on a daily basis.
“There has been a lot of change but ultimately we have to gel that together and the quicker we do that the better.”
