Andre Ayew and Marc Guehi are doubts for Swansea City’s clash with Rotherham, but Ben Cabango and Kyle Naughton are in contention to feature.

Forward Ayew and defender Guehi returned early to SA1 from their respective international duties with Ghana and England Under-21s as a precaution due to hamstring issues.

But no decision has yet been taken on their involvement against the Millers.

Ayew is currently the Swans’ top scorer with five goals to his name, while Guehi has excelled at the back in an organised and stubborn rearguard.

“Andre and Marc came back early from international duty, that was precautionary more than anything else,” said head coach Steve Cooper.

“Obviously we have had a busy schedule and they have played every minute of every league game up until now.

“They then went into a full-on international camp, so they are naturally going to be tired and, like everybody, going to be at risk of fatigue.

“From fatigue you can start feeling some strains and muscle soreness, so they came back early as a precaution.

Ben Cabango

“They are doubts for the weekend, but we haven’t made a final call on it as yet.”

There is better news when it comes to the fitness of Ben Cabango and Kyle Naughton.

The pair suffered hamstring injuries prior to the international break, but they have recovered and are in contention to feature at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.

“Ben and Kyle are back in training and available,” added Cooper.

“Morgan Gibbs-White is also making good progress, although he is nowhere near being back on the grass.

“George is also back out on the grass, it will take him a while to get back up to speed obviously but it’s good to have him back out there with us.”
