Steve Cooper will give Ben Cabango every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Norwich at Carrow Road.

The Wales international was forced to miss the midweek draw at Brentford after suffering a hamstring problem in the warm-up.

The quick turnaround between games has not left the 20-year-old with much time to recover, but the head coach says the injury does not look as bad as it could have been, and has not yet ruled Cabango out of his plans against the Canaries.

However, Cooper was also clear that no risks would be taking with Cabango’s fitness given the Championship’s hectic schedule will continue unabated after the upcoming international break.

“We are not sure yet, but we are going to give Ben every chance,” said Cooper when asked about the defender’s chances of featuring.

“The players haven’t reported yet, but I don’t think it’s going to be as bad as it could have been when someone walks off with a hamstring issue.

“It is still a bit inconclusive, so we will give him every chance, we hope he will be available but we will find out more later.

“We will check Ben over and find out if he is available to play, but we wouldn’t take any risks with any player with muscle injuries.

“We need to try and keep everyone as ready as possible for the duration of the season, which we know is going to be hard because of the tough schedule.”

Swansea will be without George Byers and Morgan Gibbs-White as the midfielders recover from groin and foot injuries respectively.
