Swansea City striker Borja Baston has left the club to join Aston Villa on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.

The Spaniard, whose contract was due to expire in the summer, links up with Dean Smith’s Villans as they look to plot a path to Premier League survival.

The 27-year-old joined the Swans from Atletico Madrid for a club-record fee in the summer of 2016.

He went on to have loan spells with Malaga and Alaves in his homeland, before returning to SA1 last summer.

He scored six goals in 21 appearances this term, including five in the opening month of the campaign.

We can also confirm that agreement has been reached with Tom Carroll for the midfielder's contract to be terminated with immediate effect.

The 27-year-old's deal had been due to expire at the end of the season, and leaves the Swans having made 103 appearances - scoring three goals - across two spells in SA1.

Everybody at Swansea City thanks Borja and Tom for their services to the club, and wish them well in their careers.
