Cameron Toshack Swansea City under-23s

16th January

Coach Cameron Toshack praised Swansea City Under-23s' performance after they sealed their ninth consecutive victory following a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.
A hat-trick from Scottish striker Oli McBurnie before a late consolation from Magpies' frontman Tom Heardman moved the young Swans 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table.
The victory was also the U23s' 13th in the league this campaign, and Toshack insists improvements can still be made.

"We are hungry to prove ourselves in every game right now," he said. "There is still plenty of the season left to play and Gary (Richards) and myself are very clear - we have not won anything yet.
"Tonight's win was very pleasing with the amount of chances we created in front of goal.
"Oli was superb and is proving he is more than capable of scoring goals when given the chance.
"There were also a number of pleasing performances all over the pitch. Players that dropped in like Connor (Roberts), Alex (Bray), Owain (Jones) and Jay (Fulton) all did really well with their efforts and played a big part for us to get the win.
"There are still areas to work on and improvements to be made. We needed to deliver a bit more with the final execution of chances we created and improve our game management at the end.
"Tonight's win over a team in second place provides a huge physiological boost going forward. We could not have wished for anymore so far this season, but we have to keep pushing the barriers to continue the momentum we have.
"Our key aim this season is to produce footballers for the first team, whether with us or out on loan. So we want the lads to keep playing as hard as they can to achieve that."
