Steve Cooper hailed Jamal Lowe’s matchwinning performance after the striker’s brace gave Swansea City a 2-0 win at Cardiff City.

Lowe scored his third and fourth goals of the season in contrasting fashion as the Swans claimed the South Wales derby bragging rights.

The forward turned in the opener from close range in just the sixth minute, and then produced a magnificent solo goal to seal the three points in the 72nd minute.

While Cooper was keen to share the credit around following a dominant display, he acknowledged the contribution Lowe has made since his arrival from Wigan during the summer.

“It was brilliant for him, we have no doubts about him," said the Swansea boss

"People have asked me questions about him in recent weeks but, as I said then, he has been a great addition to the team.

“He is such a humble lad, who just wants to work hard and he can have good days like this.

“He showed the threat he can be. I’ve said before, he has made us a better team and he has done it today by scoring a couple of goals.

“I am really pleased for him. He was a threat all afternoon, his running down the side really put pressure on Cardiff’s backline.

“He is really hard to play against, and for him to show his level with that second goal was brilliant.

“It was a team effort, but it was great for Jamal as he’s a big part of what we are trying to do here.”
