Dorus de Vries made Swansea City history in the 3-0 victory over Scunthorpe United on April 5, 2010.

Goals from David Edgar, Ashley Williams and Shefki Kuqi secured the Swans’ biggest win of the season at the Liberty and kept them in Championship play-off contention.

To add to the home side’s joy, de Vries recorded his 23rd clean sheet of the campaign; surpassing the record previously held by Roger Freestone.

It was a much-needed victory for the Swans, who went into the game on a run of six games without a win, while they were still reeling from the previous weekend’s derby defeat at the hands of Cardiff.

Nevertheless, Paulo Sousa’s men relieved the tension as they edged their noses in front in the 27th minute, when Burnley loanee Edgar latched onto Kuqi’s flick to net his first goal for the club.

The lead was doubled six minutes after the break.

Guillem Bauza’s deflected shot was cleared off the line by Niall Canavan but straight into the path of Williams, who made no mistake from close range.

And the points were sealed 10 minutes from time. Canavan could only help Garry Monk’s flighted ball into the path of Kuqi, who bore down on goal before drilling past Joe Murphy.
