The Swans progressed to the third round of the FA Cup thanks to Marc Goodfellow’s last-gasp strike in a 2-1 win over Stockport County at Vetch Field on this day in 2004.

The Swans took the lead just minutes into the second half when Lee Trundle set up Paul Connor to curl the ball past Stockport keeper Neil Cutler.

The visitors levelled in the 72nd minute through a 25-yard screamer from Danny Griffin.

The Swans had a whole host of chances to take the lead once again, with a Garry Monk header being cleared off the line and a Roberto Martinez effort narrowly missing the target.

Goodfellow sealed the victory with 12 minutes to go by firing into an empty net after Cutler had slipped while taking a goal-kick.

The Swans were defeated by Reading in the next round of the cup, but were promoted to League One after finishing in third position in League Two at the end of the 2004-05 season.
