Jonjo Shelvey scored one of the great Liberty Stadium goals as Swansea City thumped Aston Villa on this day in 2014.

Shelvey volleyed home in sensational style from the centre circle after pouncing on a loose clearance by Villa defender Ron Vlaar.

That goal made it 2-1 to the Swans on 26 minutes after Gabby Agbonlahor had cancelled out Wilfried Bony’s early opener.

Shelvey had teed up Bony’s goal, and the midfielder claimed another assist when he picked out Pablo Hernandez and the Spaniard curled the ball into the net on 76 minutes.

Marvin Emnes was then fouled by Nathan Baker, allowing Bony to claim his second from the penalty spot late on.

The resounding 4-1 victory all but secured Premier League survival for Garry Monk’s team with two games of the season remaining.
