Swansea City sealed promotion to the Championship thanks to a memorable comeback win at Gillingham on this day in 2008.

Roberto Martinez’s Swans side had played some fabulous football throughout a superb campaign.

And they secured their place in the second tier at Priestfield despite falling behind to a Gills side who were struggling at the other end of the table.

Former Swans striker Dennis Oli put the hosts in front after 22 minutes, but Martinez’s men were not to be outdone.

Spanish strike Guillem Bauza levelled the scores on 44 minutes after Andy Robinson’s long-range shot was spilled by Gills keeper Derek Stillie.

And a minute later, after another Robinson effort was parried, Bauza netted what proved to be the promotion-clinching goal.
