Two quickfire goals from Colin Addison’s Swans led them to a 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers on this day in 2001.

Bristol Rovers striker Nathan Ellington opened the scoring early on to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at Vetch Field.

But Swans forward Mamady Sidibe equalised in the 15th minute before Steve Watkin netted in just two minutes later to seal the three points for the Swans in what is now League Two.

The match proved a miserable night for Rovers’ caretaker boss Garry Thompson, with both Mike Trought and Vitalijs Astefjevs sent off in the final minutes of the match.

The Swans finished the 2001-02 season in 20th position on 51 points in the Third Division.
