Emily Thomas vs Wrexham

Swansea City Women’s forward Emily Thomas savoured the moment as she got on the scoresheet for the club for the first time with a five-goal haul in the Genero Adran Trophy win at Llandudno Ladies.

Thomas was yet to score for the Swans from her first three games with the club, but got off the mark in style as she helped inspire her side to a convincing 13-0 victory in the round of 16.

The 19-year-old has played in a number of positions for the Swans since joining but feels that playing as a striker suits her best, and she was delighted to register an important career landmark.

“I’m very happy, I think it was about time I gave something back to the team after the games I’ve been involved in, and It was nice to finally have it,” said Thomas.

“Playing down the middle is my favourite position; I think because of my pace I find quite a bit of joy down the middle.

“When I’m running at players, I find it easier when I’m going through the middle to get past people, so it definitely suits me.

“Every time we were going forward it seemed like everyone was finding me and it was nice to be able to put it in the back of the net for them.

“I would say that’s the best game I’ve had so far, I’ve never scored more than three in a game before at any level, so five is lovely to have and it's definitely an important moment for me.

“We badly want to do well in the cups, so it’s nice for us to keep pushing forward, we are getting closer and closer but there is still plenty of work to be done.”
