Nathan Dyer reflected on an emotional return to action after making his first appearance for eight months this weekend.

The winger came off the bench in the latter stages of Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Huddersfield Town.

It came following a lengthy spell on the sidelines after Dyer rupturing his Achilles in February’s victory over Leicester City.

“It was great to be back out there,” said Dyer, who was given a rousing reception by the Jack Army on his introduction.

“It was emotional for me to be playing at the Liberty Stadium after so long on the sidelines.

“It has been eight months since I last featured for the first team so it is nice to be back.

“I want to thank the manager, medical and coaching staff for sticking by me and helping me through.

“It was a massive boost to have that reception from the crowd. It is nice to know the fans appreciate you and that they know I give 110 per cent to help the team.

“It is going to take a few games to get back to full strength and pace on the pitch, but I will continue to work hard and get as many minutes as possible.”
