Ethan Galbraith | The project and style of play were a big attraction
Ethan Galbraith believes Swansea City can be the ideal home for him after completing his move from Leyton Orient.
The 24-year-old midfielder has joined the Swans for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, and put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the option for an additional 12 months.
The technically-gifted Northern Ireland international has been on Swansea’s radar for a number of months, but he revealed how speaking to head coach Alan Sheehan and director of football Richard Montague had whetted his appetite for the move.
“I am just buzzing that it is over the line, everything is sorted and I cannot wait to get out there with the lads,” said Galbraith.
“There was interest in January, and again this window, and when I found out about it and had a chat with the gaffer it was a no-brainer for me really.
“We spoke about the plan for what the club want to do in the future, the project and the style of play were a big thing for me. I think it suits me as a player, and Alan and Richard really made me want to come here.
“I also spoke to a couple of people who I have played with who used to play for Swansea. They all spoke about the fans, how passionate the fanbase is and that is what I am all about.”
Manchester United academy product Galbraith had loan spells with Doncaster Rovers and Salford, before making the move to Orient in 2023.
He enjoyed an outstanding campaign from them last term, helping the London club reach the League One play-off final, contributing six goals and seven assists.
He brings versatility having featured in several positions during his time with Orient, but he has been signed with the aim of adding to Sheehan’s options in the centre of the park.

And he wants to show the Swans fans the mix of ability on the ball and tenacity without it that have been hallmarks of his play.
“I like to get on the ball, I like to create and make things happen. But, on the other side, I like getting stuck in and tackling. So, I love a bit of everything in the game,” he said.
“I am buzzing and grateful to the club for giving me this platform to play Championship football, I cannot wait to get going.
“To the fans, I just want to say I cannot wait to start playing in front of you and I know you’ll bring the noise.”
Galbraith has had former Swans midfielder Darren Pratley – the man whose iconic long-range goal sealed the club’s place in the 2011 Championship play-off final - among his teammates over the last two seasons at Brisbane Road.
And Pratley had nothing but positives to share when the pair spoke about the prospect of Galbraith making the move to SA1.
“I spoke to Darren Pratley, who is an absolute club legend,” added Galbraith.
“I spoke to Prats quite a bit over the last month and he had nothing but good things to say and he helped me make the decision as well.
“When you go to a new club you are always trying to find out bits and pieces but he was very positive.”
