Ethan Laird hopes Swansea City can carry that winning feeling into Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The 20-year-old made his full Swans debut in Friday’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate, and was one of a number of players to impress.

The Manchester United youngster showcased his pace with one thrilling second-half run, and was also involved in a flowing move that ended with Matt Grimes having a shot blocked.

And, having seen the Swans get that first league win under their belt, the new arrival hopes they can kick on from here.

“We all have that winning mentality, that’s what the gaffer wants from us - to want the win and to do as much as we can to get the win,” he said.

“Everyone is ecstatic to get our first league win but hopefully we can just keep doing that and who knows what we can do this season.

“We’ll for sure take confidence from the win at Bristol, once you get a taste of winning you just want to win even more. I’m sure there will be many more to come.

“I’m expecting an even better performance against Plymouth on Tuesday because it’s a new system the lads have to play, some of us are used to it and some of us aren’t, but the lads are adapting to it very well.

“You can see that from getting our first win on Friday and I just feel it is going to keep getting better and better.”
