Final heartbreak for young Swans

3rd June

Swans Under-19s narrowly missed out on winning the ADO Den Haag Youth Tournament after losing to Mexico in the final after a penalty shoot-out.
With games being held over 25-minute halves, Tony Pennock's side won their opening match against hosts Den Haag after Gwion Edwards found the breakthrough.
Another 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw, thanks to a fantastic finish from Kurtis March, meant the young Swans went into their final group game with Mexico having already qualified.
Pennock's side had led 2-0 with four minutes to go in that game via James Loveridge's penalty and an excellent goal from Alex Samuel, but Mexico struck back to claim a draw in the dying moments.
The semi-final draw put the Swans up against Slovakian side Senica, and a fine 2-0 win following another strike from Loveridge and one from Kenji Gorre meant the Swans faced Mexico once again.
But despite a fine performance against Mexico, the Swans lost out on penalties after both sides failed to find the net in normal time.
