FULL-TIME: Swans U21s 1 Brighton 2

19th August

Swans Under-21s lost their opening Professional Development League Two South fixture against Brighton following a late goal at Landore Training Ground.
Adam Chicksen opened the scoring in bizarre circumstances as Scott Tancock's clearance deflected off him and looped over keeper Oliver Davies and into the net.
After an even second half, Rory Donnelly looked to have claimed a share of the spoils after he headed home with three minutes left.
But Rohan Ince volleyed home in added on time to give the Seagulls victory.

SWANS U21s: Oliver Davies, Jazz Richards (Liam Shephard, 60), Jernade Meade, Scott Tancock (capt), Daniel Alfei, Alex Gogic, James Loveridge, Lee Lucas, Rory Donnelly, Kenji Gorre, Sam Evans (Kyle Copp, 60).
SUBS: Ryan Hedges, Joseph Jones, Lewis Moore.

BRIGHTON U21s: Christian Walton, Bradley Barry, Adam Chicksen, Courteney Richards, Rohan Ince, Lewis Dunk (capt), Brennan Dickenson, Jesse Starkey, George Barker, Soloman March, Joshua Barton.
SUBS: Shane Goodwin, Grant Smith, Robert Hunt, Emil Asmundssen, Glen Rea.

Both sides showed their intent early on, with Rory Donnelly seeing his shot on the turn blocked out for a corner before Joshua Barton replied for Brighton but his effort from 20 yards floated harmlessly over the crossbar.
James Loveridge was the next to try his luck as keeper Christian Walton's clearance fell to the feet of the striker, but he could only fire his shot straight back at the Brighton stopper.
Then Brighton took the lead in the most bizarre circumstance, as captain Scott Tancock's clearance deflected off Adam Chicksen and looped over keeper Oliver Davies and into the net after 22 minutes.
The Swans, playing some neat passing football, looked for an instant response but Brighton's back-line stood firm.
Just before the break, George Barker flashed his effort wide from just inside the home area as the visitors looked to take advantage of a counter attack.

Half-time: Swans U21s 0 Brighton 1

Kristian O'Leary made a double change on the hour, introducing Liam Shephard and Kyle Copp for Jazz Richards and Sam Evans.
Moments later, Donnelly went close to levelling but his effort bounced inches wide as Walton scrambled across goal.
Brighton looked a threat on the counter, and when Joshua Barton latched onto a through ball into the box, his strike was deflected wide for a corner by a sliding challenge from Daniel Alfei.
Then, at the other end, Donnelly's volley made its way to Copp, but he fired over while under heavy pressure from a defender.
Kenji Gorre saw an effort deflected wide for a corner after cutting in from the left, and then Courteney Richards fired over from 20 yards.
But the Swans got their equaliser with three minutes left. Alfei's pinpoint cross from the right was met by the head of Donnelly, who directed his effort into the bottom corner.
But the celebrations were short-lived, with Rohan Ince volleying home in added on time to steal victory.
