Swansea City winger Daniel James has been drafted into the Wales squad for Tuesday’s Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland.

James played for the Welsh Under-21s as they were beaten 2-0 in Romania on Friday.

He had been due to feature in the under-21s’ clash with Switzerland in Newport on Tuesday night, but he will now be hoping to win a first senior cap in Dublin.

James made his Football League debut for the Swans at Birmingham in August.

The 20-year-old has since clocked up five more senior appearances, with his most influential display yet coming last time out against Ipswich Town.

James joins fellow Swans Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon and Declan John in the Wales squad.

Boss Ryan Giggs is without the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Ethan Ampadu for the Ireland game.
