Hanley keen to get going

Raheem Hanley can't wait to get started with Swansea City after agreeing a deal that secures his future with the club until at least June 2015.

The 19-year-old left back became the Swans' third signing of the January transfer window on Thursday afternoon, following David Ngog and Adam King to the Liberty.

Hanley, who left Blackburn Rovers last week, is seen as one for the future and will link up with Kristian O'Leary's Under-21s squad tomorrow.

And after sealing his move to Swansea, the young prospect is eager to get going.

"It feels really good to sign for Swansea City," said the new Swans starlet. "I left Blackburn not so long ago, so to go from the Championship to the Premier League so soon is something I'm obviously delighted with.

"I can't wait to get started now. I'm looking forward to meeting my team-mates during my first training session tomorrow and, hopefully, if I'm selected, I can play in our next game.

"I like to think I'm a player that works hard, a player that gets up and down the line. I'm predominantly left footed, but I try to cut inside to link up with the midfielders and the strikers.

"Having watched Swansea this season, I really like the way Ben Davies plays. He is a young player like myself and he's a model left back."

Despite arriving at a new club with new team-mates, one face Hanley will recognise is that of fellow under-21 Kenji Gorré, who Hanley played with during his younger years at Manchester United.

"I've known Kenji for a number of years," he explained. "We played together at Manchester United when we were younger. 

"It will be really good to play with him again, hopefully we can play on the left together at some point."
