Jacob Cook is savouring a "proud" moment for him and his family after putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal with Swansea City.

The 19-year-old has extended his stay at his hometown club until the end of June 2029, with his previous deal due to run out in 2027.

Cook first joined the Swans at under-nine level and signed professional terms in the summer of 2025, having been regular for the under-21s throughout his scholarship.

And the youngster has at least another three years to look forward to in Swans colours, and he couldn't be prouder.

"I'm delighted, it's a proud moment for me and my family, and hopefully it's a step closer to making my debut for the first team," said Cook.

"After signing my pro last year, the last nine months have been nothing but positive for me, having got experience playing men's football with Connah's Quay.

"That type of football takes getting used to, which is something I eventually picked up, and I believe I have returned to Swansea a better and more developed player."

Cook - who hails from Morriston - was the youngest Swansea player out on loan last campaign, and enjoyed a highly successful stint with Connah's Quay.

He picked up the Players' Player and Manager's Player of the Season awards at their annual club awards, and in 31 appearances the midfielder netted three goals.

He was a nominess for the Cymru Premier Team of the Season, alongside Swans teammate Kit Margetson, and he hopes to bring that senior experience back to his parent club.

"The type of football is a lot different to academy football, it's a lot quicker, a lot more physical and that pushes you, and I hope to show that now once we report back." he added.

"I didn't fully move up north, so it was a lot of travelling, but it meant I was still training down in Swansea which was a good balance of still being in the Swans environment whilst playing senior football.

"We had a strong season, and I'm grateful to the manager for trusting in me and that gave me so much confidence, and it showed in the way I play.

"It was amazing to secure a European spot towards the end of the season, it's an amazing achievement for everyday and I was so proud to be a part of that."

Seeing fellow youngsters Arthur Parker and Thomas Woodward make their senior debuts last term has also whetted Cook's appetite to continue to make strides in his development.

"The target for next year will always be to be in and around the first team as much as possible, but if another loan opportunity arises, it'll be another step to further my development," he added.

"I've seen how well a lot of the lads have done up in Scotland, Ireland and in the EFL and then some of the boys making their debuts this season.

"Seeing that makes me want to get there and I've got the security now to achieve that."
