Jamal Lowe has been blown away by the welcome he has received at Swansea City, and is keen to quickly start showing supporters what he has to offer.

The 26-year-old forward sealed a move from Wigan Athletic last week, penning a three-year contract with the option for an additional 12 months.

He became the fifth signing of what has been a busy transfer window thus far for the Swans, and Lowe’s acquisition proved to be one that created a buzz among the Jack Army.

The former Barnet and Portsmouth man has been grateful for the warm welcome he has received at the club, and from fans he has encountered around the city.

And, as he hopes to make his competitive Swansea bow in Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie at Newport, he is eager to pull on that famous white shirt and make an impression.

“I want to show the club and the fans what I can do, the welcome I have had from them and everyone at the club has just been amazing,” said Lowe, who scored in Tuesday afternoon's 2-1 pre-season friendly victory over Forest Green Rovers.

“I am going to give 100 per cent week in and week out and try to help the club to get back to where it wants to be.

“I know everyone is desperate to achieve here, I am no different.”

Lowe finished the 2019-20 campaign as one of the stand-out performers in a Wigan side that had the third-best record in the Championship during 2020 before off-field matters took their relegation fate out of their own hands.

He is keen to continue in that vein, believing the chance to work on his conditioning during the enforced three-month break brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic proved beneficial.

“I think lockdown helped me in terms of needing to grow and get used to the fitness side of it,” he added.

“I used it as a pre-season during the season, if you like, and I felt like that helped me.

“I want to carry on from there because I felt very strong over the second half of the season.”
